The path forward isn’t always obvious.

That’s why we’re here.

Tiresias Leadership partners with leaders who are ready for a real thought partner. Someone who will tell the truth with care, help you see what you’ve been missing, and walk alongside you toward your Ithaka: the goal you’re committed to reaching.

A note from Coach Jake:

Like my childhood hero, Odysseus, each of us is on a journey to Ithaka. Anytime we have a goal, dream, or something we want to get better at, it’s as if we’re sitting down at the oar banks to set sail for home once more. And, like Odysseus, sometimes the journey takes far longer than we imagined.

On those travels, we all need someone who can help us find the right direction. For Odysseus, it was Tiresias, the blind seer of Thebes, who in the Underworld told our hero the truth about what he would need to do to reach home. Tiresias didn’t rescue Odysseus. He didn’t tell him it would all be okay. He saw what the wanderer could not and held up the truth when it mattered most.

In nearly a decade of coaching corporate leaders, small business owners, and men through the challenges of leadership and relationships, I’ve learned to be the Tiresias that they need. I built my early career in small, white-glove businesses that depended upon relationships to succeed. I saw firsthand how important honest and effective communication is for growth, success, and sustainability. And because I never worked in corporate America, I never bought into the “rules” that so many of my peers did. This is why my clients work with me. I help them see what others cannot.

Warmly,

The Men’s Group:
A Novel of Messy Friendships

Written by Jacob Fishbein & Nicholaos Papadopoulos

Emily Dickinson wrote, "Tell all the truth but tell it slant."

This is what we set out to do when we started writing The Men’s Group in 2016. To tell a true story, not one based on facts but one filled with the essence of the truth even as our characters and plot were invented.

We could’ve written a leadership playbook based on our twenty-six combined years of experience. We chose a novel instead, because fiction allows the reader to find their own lessons within the pages.

Everyone will take away something different when they read this book. Some will see what we as the authors hoped they would. Most will take away something personal and true for them that only they can know.

Testimonials

Jake creates a space that is both challenging and deeply supportive. I became clearer about my priorities, more disciplined about delegation, and more confident making decisions in complex, ambiguous situations. I leave every session with concrete actions I can implement immediately — and a broader perspective that continues to shape how I lead.

— Jackson T., Non-Profit Executive

Prior to this work, I was aimlessly wandering through life, merely going through the motions. The work with Jake was intense and sobering — but it helped me question myself, practice gratitude, set boundaries, and take ownership of how I showed up. I've found who I am, and that's changed how I lead, how I respond, and how I experience my life.

— Charlene Fox, Clinical Manager

Jake's holistic approach to coaching tended to both my professional and personal growth, especially through some challenging personal circumstances. Jake's dynamic approach to coaching really tended to the most pressing needs I had at each interval of our time together and I'm forever changed by his attentive and thoughtful probing questions.

— Jordan H., Higher Education Professional
